Evergreen

Evergreens keep their leaves all year round, shedding a few all the way. They are great for giving the garden year round color and shape.

Evergreen trees, unlike deciduous trees, tend to have "fibrous" roots with numerous smaller roots. As a result, they have to be transplanted with larger root balls, and a five-foot spruce (with root ball). In addition, many evergreens are very slow growing while young: for example, a three-foot blue spruce will be in our fields for six years or more. That's why many evergreen trees will be so much more expensive than larger deciduous trees.

Deciduous

Deciduous trees and shrubs are simply those that shed their leaves at the end of each growing season, as opposed to evergreens that keep their foliage year around.

Through appropriate cultivation and pruning throughout the growing season, our ready-for-sale deciduous trees and shrubs are characterized by a good branch system and vigorous growth.
