Annuals

Annual plants sprout from seed, flower, set seed, and die within one season. Annuals come in a variety of colors, heights, and textures, and their uses are almost unlimited. Unbeatable in masses of solid or mixed colors, annuals are also very effective in small groups or used to soften lines and accent borders.

Popular Annuals include Corn cockle; Nasturtium; Morning glory;; Sweet pea; Poached egg plant; African marigold; Lobelia; Zinnia; Busy Lizzie; Petunia

Biennials

Biennials are plants that require two growing seasons to complete their lifecycle. The first year they usually produce only a rosette of foliage; they then bloom, set seed and die the second year. Some biennials may appear to have perennial characteristics because they self-sow and therefore reappear year after year.

Popular Biennials include Foxglove; Wallflower; Cotton thistle; Sweet William; Honesty
